Improving Your Self-Esteem with Root-Cause Therapy

Updated: Sep 29

Self-esteem is how you view yourself. It’s the lens you look through when you consider who you are. If you have low self-esteem, you may negatively view yourself. Instead of thinking about how you have the gift for communication, you see yourself as someone who just can’t shut up.

When you have low self-esteem, it’s easy to fixate on your flaws. But you don’t have to let low self-esteem destroy your confidence and who you are.

There are tools to help you feel more confident in the moment, like journaling, forgiving yourself for past mistakes and completing an important task. These are great tools. I am a journal writer myself and find it quite therapeutic to write out my thoughts and feelings, but what about going a bit deeper? What if you could go to the root cause of your low self-esteem and safely heal the moment when that pain began? Instead of feeling confident for just a moment or two, you were then able to feel confident long term. With Root-Cause Therapy we can do that.

In Root-Cause Therapy, we like to say that our mind and body is like a tree. 🌳

The unconscious memories, programs, protection mechanisms we have learned and the traumas we have endured are the roots.

The behaviors and patterns that we see on-going are the branches.

Then the thoughts are the leaves. Thoughts like we mentioned before, like I talk too much.

Most therapies address the leaves, trying to cut the branches that are no longer serving like fixing a thinking pattern (I talk too much). As you can imagine this does not work longterm because those old thinking patterns will creep up again and again because the core wound has not been healed. Just like cut back branches that grow back.

In RCT, we firstly assess the whole tree, with our guide, The Testing Sheet. This is a sheet that we go through with our client assessing emotional, mental, and physical health, behaviours and limiting beliefs.

Then we ask the tree to show us the roots that need healing.. which will bring the tree back into health, happiness and vitality. This is done through a combination of regression therapy and kinesiology. Once we identify the root cause of your low self-esteem, or a different concern, we safely release any emotion that was not able to be released at the time of the trauma, therefore healing that event and any subsequent event since then. There is no need to dig into every painful event.

The roots can be very deep, coming from generational trauma, relational trauma or environment stressors when the tree was a baby tree 🌱

That’s why we need to go deeper that just trying to prune the leaves and branches.
